Back!

NB and I are finally back home. We arrived yesterday afternoon. Our house didn't burn down, our bikes, computers and tomatoes are still there, and all the plants are happy and well.

And now, for a weekend of recovering from our vacation!

NB has already uploaded his vacation photos here. Mine are slowly going up here.

Hi guys
We are glad you are back home safe and sound. We really enjoyed seeing you again. Hope that you enjoyed Nanaimo, so maybe you could be coaxed to return some day. Perhaps air travel would ease the here/there pain. There are lots of interesting places to see in the world, so don't think that we expect you to spend all your holidays here, although we would like that, of course.
We liked your pictures. That really is a pretty snail when you see him on the Large size picture. I see that Munkymu's pictures have a link to Yahoo Maps. I'm thinking that would be a very interesting feature when I post cruise pictures - like our last cruise from Rio, around Cape Horn to Valparaiso. And I like the area for desciption with each picture. I have been grumbling about my Fotopic site for some time, because so many of the pictures need a little story in order to mean anything to other people. So, I'm thinking of migrating my pics to Flickr.

Enshie has been watching the Edmonton weather forecasts - looks like it is almost "cover the tomatoes" time.

I liked the pictures that are posted, and am looking forward to the rest yet to come. When we went to the seawall on Friday, we stopped and checked out your friends the starfish and crabs. I also like the Flickr format, especially how it links to other pictures, and how you can make comments. I think we have to go to Victoria and have a look at Butchart Gardens again- it looks so pretty. Also, I want to go there and check out some fabric stores. Nanaimo doesn't have any interesting ones. They have a Fabricland, though, so at least they do have the big one.

We just ate a great big supper. We had pork tenderloin with sticky lime glaze, ginger sweet potato puree, and mint red pepper peas. Lots of garlic, onion and ginger. We all ate so much that none of us feels like going for a Buddy poo walk, including Buddy.

We forgot to introduce you to the little frog who lives in the flower pot on our deck. He's still there. We now also have a quail family appearing around the back of the house - dad, mom and at least four little fuzz balls. They're sure cute.

We've made good use here already of the portable chairs that you gave us. We took them to Maffeo Sutton park for the Symphony in the Harbour. Except for the half-time rain, we were very comfortable. We meant to tell you when you were here, but of course we forgot.

I hope you can join Sharon and me for brunch on 15 Sept before I go home to Nanaimo (that sounds weird still). She told me to choose where to go, so I chose the Upper Crust - mmm eggs Florentine. I don't remember what time they open - 10:00 or 11:00. My plane leaves at 3:15, and Sharon has also offered to drive me to the airport.

Guess I'd better hoist my butt out of this chair and we can take the little dog out for his constitutional.

Glad to hear that you weren't faced with wet hardwood when you got home.
