Sunroom Photos

Some photos of our finished (or almost-finished) sunroom:

It looks pretty much the same as our old sunroom, minus the deck and door.

What it looks like from the inside, with the floor as-yet unfinished.

A close up of my peonies, just 'cause I like them (they smell very nice!):

And just because it's such a great picture, I'm posting a photo my dad sent me of this year's Caterpillar Situation in Fort McMurray:

(You can click for a closeup. Isn't that great? In a really gross kind of way?)

Just a quick note - more later, maybe this evening.

Wowee! Your dad has caterpillars for sure. I think that is worse than the cycle I remember of 20 or so years ago. They covered the columns supporting our radar eqmt south-east of Edmonton. And I heard stories about cars sliding off one of the hilly roads near Whitecourt because so many caterpillars had been squished. Maybe that is an urban myth, I don't know for sure.
It must be a relief to have the sunroom nearly finished. You can sit in there and enjoy the back yard without getting eaten alive by mosquitoes. And maybe this one will be nice and warm in the winter, too.
We are still amazed that we are beside a beaver pond slough and yet there are no mosquitos around. We have even eaten supper outside on the deck without being bothered by any bugs.
Our lanscaping might be finished today. What a change it makes! I'll let Enshie tell you about the exotic plants we have.
We broke the piggy bank yesterday buying real oak furniture - a bookcase, roll-top desk, a small dresser, and a big highboy dresser. No more Brick stuff that falls apart carrying it home. This stuff has solid oak and oak veneer plywood - no particle board with faux oak printed finish.

Might be hard to give the overall effect, but I'll try to capture the landscaping on camera. I'll put them in the Nanaimo collection on my fotopic site - http://geoburgen.fotopic.net

I liked your comments about "bumping around". Have a good Canada Day week-end.

Since Enshie already did a plant report by e-mail, there'e not much more to say on that account. I can, however, wish you both a very happy Canada Day. Maybe we'll take Buddy and go have a look at the Nanaimo festivities. It's a nice excuse to celebrate - this country is a good place to be.

The caterpillar picture is superb - Gross!!!! I remember tent caterpillars falling inside my collar when I was waiting for the bus. I'd be frantic trying to get them out, panicking all the while, and dancing to boot.

I finally got around to posting a few pictures. As expected, I could not seem to capture the landscaping effect with the camera. Blame the photographer, not the camera. I changed the name of the collection from "Nanaimo" to "Living in Nanaimo" because it captures more of our day-to-day stuff.

Driving to the seawall for a walk today we saw a young fawn and its mom on someone's lawn (on Lost Lake Road), but I didn't stop to take a picture. Maybe next time.

Our high efficiency furnace is not working properly. It seems to me that they are fairly fussy. Good thing it is not winter. We have a gas fireplace that we could use if it gets too cool in here.
